Il CTP n. 2 si propone come centro a cui possono accedere gli adulti e coloro che abbiano conseguito il 15° anno di età che intendano:
- Conseguire il titolo dell’obbligo
- Soddisfare i propri interessi culturali e professionali
- Avvicinarsi al mercato del lavoro attraverso un’esperienza di formazione
- Acquisire conoscenze linguistiche ed informatiche.
La progettazione e l’organizzazione delle attività rivolte agli adulti mirano soprattutto a sviluppare conoscenze ed abilità operative e trasversali in grado di consentire un agevole inserimento in una società in crescente trasformazione e in un mercato del lavoro in cui ormai vengono richieste sempre più competenze specifiche.
Inoltre, la partecipazione del CTP a progetti europei quali Socrates Grundtvig rende l’istituzione scolastica attenta alle problematiche di un adulto che rientra in formazione, che va orientato verso la scelta formativa e/o professionale più consona alle sue abilità e sostenuto in questo suo percorso.

The CTP n. 2, is a very large Adult Education Centre in Catania. It provides long-term service activities to adult learners who cannot enter the labour market because of their poor education and lack of specific professional qualification. The CTP n. 2 provides access to effective education to those young people who have dropped out of education and those under-aged young people who are supported by Social Services and the Juvenile Court. Since its foundation, the Institution has been working with the different Penitentiary Institutes of the area, offering formal education, activities and training courses with the aim of addressing adverse psychological attitudes and anti-educative behaviours which characterize a forced stay in a coactive institution.
The Centre has promoted a social and cultural change in the city context carrying out some prevention activities to build up a sense of belonging to civil society. The CTP offers a wide choice of training activities, such as:
- Training courses to acquire new skills to improve employability
- Training courses to integrate, update one's knowledge and abilities to suit job requirements
- Training courses to provide disadvantaged adults with any type of support, thus facilitating their integration in the social context and appreciating their diversity
- Training courses to get the Junior High School Diploma.
Besides, thanks to ESF PON Projects, the CTP n. 2 has started a collaboration with "Casa dei Popoli", a local community centre, financially supported by Catania City Council and Home Ministry, which helps the non EU citizens arriving from Middle East, Africa and other tormented countries in getting the status of political refugee, learning Italian, getting some education and also finding a job. Not only can these migrants study Italian, but they can also attend courses of Information Technology, Bakery and cooking.
As the centre is hosted by IPSSAR K. "Wojtyla", a Vocational Hotel School, there is a constant cooperation between the two schools in order to implement measures to prevent students from school dispersion.
